- Each player receives 3 Attribute Cards.
- Each player receives 1 Personality Card.
- Players secretly choose one ability from their Personality Card and record their choice.
- Shuffle and place all Route Cards face down in a pile.
- Draw the first Route Card and place it face up. This is the Start Hold.
Setting the Route
- Starting with the first player, players take turns,
- Draw one route card per turn.
- Place it so that it is connected to an existing Route Card (all cards must be touching long or short side to another card no diagonal placement).
- Continue until all Route Cards have been placed.
- Start Hold If the first move from the Start Hold appears too difficult, players may place a newly drawn Route Card to either side of the Start Hold (upto a maximum of 3 in total may be used as a start).
- Finding the Top: Once all Route Cards have been placed, the highest physical Route Card becomes the TOP/FINISH if there are more than one route card at the same level, all can be classed as the TOP. first to land on a top card is the winner
Climbing
Players take turns attempting to climb the route they helped create.
On your turn, you have two choices:
attempt the next move or reset (move/swap a route card)
ATTEMPT THE NEXT MOVE
Look at the three attributes shown on the next Route Card.
Choose one and reveal your attribute card
Draw one Randomiser Card (unless different value is stated on the card).
Your Attribute + Randomiser = Move Score
If your Move Score is equal to or greater than the required number, you successfully climb onto the next Route Card.
Example
Route Card:
CRIMP - Strength 6 / Technique 5 / footwork 7
Your Strength is 3.
You choose Strength.
You need to draw a 3/4 randomiser card.
3 Strength + 3/4 Randomiser = 6/7
SUCCESS.
Move your Player Token onto the Crimp.
If you fail
If your total is lower than the required number:
Move your Player Token back one Route Card.
Unless you have a Personality ability that prevents or changes the fall.
MOVE A ROUTE CARD
Instead of attempting the next move, you may move one Route Card to make your route easier or another player's route harder.
This is where the game gets nasty.
You can manipulate the route you've created together.
you can either pick a route card to swap with each other changing the difficulty of the current climb or move a route card if a route card is moved from the middle of the climb the cards above are moved down one to fill the space
LOCKED ROUTE
Players may only manipulate route cards not occupied by a climber, If a player is two Route Cards or fewer from the Top, the route becomes permanently locked and may no longer be manipulated.
Winning
The first player to successfully reach the TOP/FINISH wins.
